Through its international activity, the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris (ENSBA) wishes, on the one hand, to contribute to the familiarization of future artists with European and international institutions and practices, notably through its quality study abroad programmes, and on the other hand, to promote the specificity of its teaching by welcoming visiting students and by developing its pedagogical and artistic partnerships around the world.
The international activity of the school is built on three axes:
- Student and faculty exchange programmes
Student and faculty exchange programmes constitute one of the ENSBA’s priorities. The new European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport, “Erasmus + (2014-2020)”, provides strong support on the European scale, and elsewhere in the world ENSBA has signed bilateral accords with numerous world-renowned partner establishments.
Students are hence encouraged to spend a semester abroad during their fourth year of studies. This can be done either as visiting students at one of our partner establishments or in the context of a professional internship.
Faculty are also encouraged to participate in conferences, colloquia and workshops abroad, thus favouring the development of the École’s exchanges and pedagogical projects with partner establishments.
Foreign students are invited to study at ENSBA as part of the exchange conventions signed with partner establishments.
Numerous foreign professors and artists teach at the École. The invitation of visiting professors and artists is equally valued as part of the École’s exchange conventions.
- Studio trips abroad
Studio professors often organize studio trips abroad. These trips often occasion original joint projects with regional partners, which may in turn result in exhibitions, publications, etc. Studio trips are proposed at the year’s end and are subject to a selection process that depends on available funds for the following year.
The École also proposes students with visits and trips to major exhibitions or contemporary art shows around the world (such as the Venice Biennale, Kassel Documenta, Istanbul Biennale…).
As part of its international exchange programme, ENSBA is also pursuing the development of short-term partnerships involving students and faculty, in the form of workshops.
